Closed Caption Creator is a professional timed-text editor used to create closed captioning and subtitles for broadcast.
Many broadcast television stations require that closed captioning be embedded in the video file for delivery and playout. This approach has many benefits, such as the fact that it only requires storing and managing a single file. Additionally, it ensures that the closed caption data remains with the video.
However, there are also drawbacks, such as the amount of time it takes to embed the closed captioning and the limited number of tools available to perform this task.
We are excited to announce the release of our new CC Embed and Extraction Plugin, which allows users to embed and extract EIA-608 and EIA-708 closed captioning using Closed Caption Creator.
The CC Embed & Extraction plugin supports re-wrap (or passthrough) of broadcast video. This saves a considerable amount of time and processing power when embedding captions. The time required to embed closed captioning is similar to copying a file from one directory to another.
With support for Mac, Windows, and Linux, the embedding process can take place on almost any system that has access to both the video and closed caption project.
The result is a broadcast-ready file with both 608 and 708 closed captioning.
Closed Caption Creator can extract embedded captions from a broadcast video file and import them as an Event Group in an existing project. This allows broadcast teams to edit and review embedded captions.
Any changes made to the closed captioning can then be re-embedded in the original file without the need to re-encode.
